A new start
After an incredible time at Thoughtworks, I’ve decided it’s time for a change…
After an incredible time at Thoughtworks, I’ve decided it’s time for a change…
So I’ve made my first, hesitant steps towards a more IndieWeb. I’ve migrated my existing posts out of a Github Pages site to my own Hugo-based system, and I’ve written my own (very simple!) URL shortener with the idea that I can truly make a start on owning my own data. The next step along the journey is to try and gain an understand of where my data is, and if I can try and establish a path towards POSSE (Publish Own Site, Syndicate Elsewhere).
MVP kinda done? In part 3 of this series we look back on the MVP and see what milestones we’ve hit!
In part 2 of this builder series, I talk about the Minimum Viable Product for my URL shortener!
In this introductory blog post we talk about the need for URL shorteners, and discuss some of the reasoning around building my own!
And I’ve got to get myself back to the garden.
In part 2 of this [very short] series, I shift my content from Jekyll to Hugo!
Trying to make blogging fun again! I decided this blog needed some titivation, and realised that my Jekyll configuration was super brittle. This post talks about how I migrated to Hugo following the stellar advice by the awesome Jamie Tanna!
And why neurodiversity matters. This post discusses different types of intelligence, and why it can be helpful to understand your friends learning modes!
Or where I realise I’m out of my depth…
The third installment of this series where I’m building out a client rendering framework.
The second installment of a series where I fiddle about with building my own toy js framework just for lols
Another JS Framework!! WHY NOT!?
I’ve been wading around the murky waters of various IT organisations for the past 11ish years, and have worked in many different roles with varying responsibilities throughout. This is the latest in a series of frequently-aborted attempts at blogging and brain-sharing…
Oops, it’s happened again! Once more I’ve started a blog, run out of things to say and subsequently let the entire thing rot away…
The summer sun - seemingly a fleeting acquaintance this year, has bid farewell; leaving behind it chillier mornings, a craving for carbohydrates, and a fizzling-out sense of motivation…
So I thought it might be a good idea to start including technical stuff in this technical/developer blog. Fairly recently, my best friend moved to gay Paris for business.
You can buy anything online these days. More to the point - you can buy incredibly more awesome things, in a manner more timely and absurdly convenient than I ever thought possible.
I started this blog with the intention of contributing back to the community any thoughts and learnin’s I’ve picked up over the years. The main problem with this is that I get the impression everything has already been discussed, debated and blogged about to the point of exhaustion. So what’s left to contribute?
I’ve been trying to get out and do Park Runs for about 9 months or so now. It gets me out of the house, and gives me something to do on a Saturday morning, other than just marinating in my own juices…
Well I thought it a reasonably appropriate time to start a development blog on this, the day of my 30th birthday. I’ll definitely attempt to keep this up to date with any musings I may have, at least once a week (gulp…)
